We couldn’t be happier that the Maccabees are back with a new album, and even happier that it’s turned out to be a corker, which is well worth the three years we’ve waited for it.
The band have talked openly about this being a particularly difficult album, Orlando Weeks himself commenting that this has “been the most stressful record so far.” However, press play and it’s clear that the record is as a step in the right direction for the Maccabees. It’s a coming of age album filled with all of the widely relatable raw emotion of our twenties. Not only have they perfected the tone of the album but they have experimented with new sounds, including piano led sections and the introduction of vocals from lead guitarist Hugo White. Despite subtle changes to their sound, the Maccabees have stayed true to their roots and proved that they have what it takes to go the distance.
If you haven’t already heard it, we recommend it as worthy of a spin. It’s certainly on repeat at CRAVE HQ for the foreseeable future!
In the meantime check out the video for the title track ‘Marks To Prove It’.
